Then I got back in really well last week with a total of 23miles in one week! The best thing to have happened to me was interval training. I love it. I have started gradual and increased my reps but am now on 8x400m at 14kph! I beat my PB today in the gym with a 5km of 25.14mins. That was with the interval training! I saw the full effects of my interval training last Saturday when I got out for my long run of 7miles. It was the nicest 7 miles I've ever done!
1) I didn't check my watch for pace or distance the whole run. This meant I thought I was going slower then I was but I didn't care. It felt good so I went with it!
2) I had my fantastic new brightly coloured shorts! I've never had shorts before for running and now I don't think I can live without them. I love them.
Result: 6.9miles in 59minutes
I felt so great! And if I can sub 60 in over the mileage I will be okay for race day! I hope... just have to break out those shorts!
I finished off the 3 day running session with a 5miler with the other half on Sunday which was nice! He'll be well able for the 10k just gotta get some more long miles in his legs!
But then disaster struck. My left foot hurt. It hurt after the run but I'd been feeling these pains for a while so thought it'd be grand. Standing in the tube heading home from the Science Museum there was a sudden warm feeling on my left arch. Like someone had sprayed deep heat on it. Uh oh....I've needed new shoes for a while but this was a wake up call. So...you're supposed to change your shoes every 300-400 miles I hear...Mine were on 539miles. And they were prob more as I didn't know for a while that you could track your mileage on your shoes on fetcheveryone.com. I was an eejit and I went online Monday and bought some shoes. The exact same pair as I have already but I do love them! Strapped my foot Tuesday as it still felt bad and the heat feelings weren't going away. My new shoes arrived today and the pain had gone so decided to treat my shoes to some interval training and guess what! New shoes make such a difference! Didn't realise how bad my other shoes were.. oops. Thank you Saucony!

So going to finish this week with my long run Saturday (7.5miles) and a recovery Sunday (4miles?). At least will get some mileage in for the week I hate resting but know it's important too!
